Roger Feingold
Piano, Brass, Woodwinds, Violin
Roger Edward Feingold began the study of music in Winthrop, Mass at the South End Music Center in South Boston. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1960, having been a member of the band grades 8-12. In addition to piano Mr. Feingold studied and performed as a saxophonist and trombonist in various ensembles. After graduation, he attended Central Florida Jr. College studying piano with Eugene Schlabach and Will Tatum, clarinet with Gene Lawton, and was trombonist with the C.F.J.C. orchestra. Just prior to graduation from college, He attended the F.S.U. School of music, studying piano with Dr. Carlisle Floyd and trombone with Dr. William Cramer, and performing with the Concert Band under the direction of Robert Braunagel. Roger interned at Paxon Jr. High school, received his B.M.E. and taught band and chorus at Osceola Jr. High in Ocala for one year. In May of 1967, the draft board insisted that Roger serve in the U.S. ARMY for the next two years. As a bandsman in the 282an Army Band, Ft. Jackson, S.C. he attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. His duties as trombonist, French hornist, and auditioner of new and prospective bandsmen were highly beneficial to his chosen field. In 1969, Roger returned to F.S.U. School of music as a graduate student under the G.I. Bill, pursuing the M.M.E. degree. The song of the open road lured Roger away from school in 1972, when he toured with his brother and sister as the “Band of Gold”. After a year on the road, Roger and Steve Ogilvie, a friend from F.S.U. started band programs at a few of the area's Catholic schools. About two years later, Roger had the good fortune to become associated with Black's pianos and organs. While a teacher at Blacks, the opportunity to learn piano tuning became reality. Two years later, with the retirement of the owner, Roger began a long-term association with the owners of Pro Music and Mayer Music. Roger is currently a music educator, piano tuner/technician, and performing musician in the Jacksonville area.
